Privacy Policy
Last updated: 25 July 2026
Kibo (“we”, “us”, “the app”) is operated by Reclaim IT (Australia). This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. By using Kibo you agree to this policy. Contact: support@kibo.social.
1. What we collect
You give us
- Phone number — to create your account and sign you in via a one-time SMS code. This is your primary identifier.
- Profile info — display name, age, gender, a short bio, interests, and other basics you choose to add.
- Photos — the profile photos you upload.
- Messages — the text messages you send to other users through the app.
- Voice during calls — when you make a live translated voice call, your microphone audio is streamed in real time so we can show live captions and translate what's said. We do not record or store call audio; it is processed transiently to generate captions and then discarded.
Collected automatically
- Approximate region — the market you're matched in (e.g. AU / US / EU), used for matching and translation.
- Basic app/diagnostic data — via Firebase (crash logs, and, if enabled, anonymous usage analytics) to keep the app stable.
We do not collect your precise GPS location, contacts, or financial account details. In-app purchases are processed by Google Play / Apple, who handle payment data — we never see your card details.
2. How we use it
- Create and secure your account (phone verification).
- Show your profile to other users and let you discover and connect with them (“Say Hi”, matches, chat, voice calls).
- Translate conversations across languages between markets.
- Operate in-app features: diamonds, Hi's, subscriptions, boosts.
- Keep the service safe (prevent abuse, enforce our rules) and diagnose crashes.
3. What others see
Your name, age, gender, bio, interests, and photos are visible to other Kibo users as part of normal use. Your phone number is never shown to other users. Messages are visible only to you and the person you're chatting with.
4. Sharing
We don't sell your personal data. We share data only with:
- Service providers who run the app's infrastructure — Google Firebase (authentication, database, storage, messaging, analytics). Their handling is governed by Google's privacy policy.
- Live-call processors — during a translated voice call, audio and/or transcribed text is sent in real time to Deepgram (speech-to-text), Agora (voice call transport), and Google Cloud Translation (translation), solely to provide live captions and translation during the call. Call audio is not stored.
- Google Play / Apple for purchases.
- Law enforcement where required by law, or to protect users' safety.
5. Storage & security
Data is stored on Google Firebase servers (primary region: Sydney, Australia). We use industry-standard security (encrypted transport, access-controlled database rules). No method is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
6. Your choices & rights
- Edit your profile, photos, and info anytime in the app.
- Delete your account — use the in-app “Delete my account” option, or email support@kibo.social. We remove your profile, photos, and messages, except where we must retain limited records for legal or safety reasons.
- Analytics — you can opt out of anonymous analytics in your device/app settings where offered.
- You can delete your account and all associated data at any time — in the app (Profile → Settings → Delete account) or via these steps.
- Depending on where you live (e.g. EU/UK, California), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your data — contact us to exercise them.
7. Children
Kibo is for users 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn an account belongs to a minor, we will remove it.
8. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date.
